We're pleased to announce the 5th Annual Battle Golf Tournament on Friday, August 9th at Hickory Hills Golf Course. Over the last four years, our amazing committee has turned Battle Golf into our signature golf event in the Chippewa Valley by bringing in the best supporters and providing an amazing experience for our participants.
We want to invite you to be a part of the success by considering becoming a Battle Golf partner in 2024. This event is capped at approximately 100 golfers but will be promoted to hundreds of people through our digital and traditional media campaigns.
Battle Golf Tournament
Battle Golf is a two-person scramble played in a match-style format. The team with the lowest score on each hole can "block" a club from their opponents or "unblock" one of their own. Blocked clubs can't be used unless you win a hole and choose to unblock one. Tied holes result in no club blocking or unblocking. Players are limited to 1 driver and 1 putter, with a maximum of 14 clubs. Winners are determined by holes won and overall low score, with trophies for the victors. In case of a tie, we use the "Last to First Hole Method." All proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Wisconsin. This event features 18 holes of golf, lunch before the shotgun-start, a silent auction, and incredible on course games and activities! We hope to see you there!
Rules & Regulations:
Each team consists of 2 players playing against the other 2 golfers in the playing group.
Play will follow a 2-person scramble format. However, teams are asked to track both their Match Play score and their overall team stroke score.
The team that posts the lowest score on each hole scores 1 Match Point and selects one club to “block” from one of their opponent’s bags. Please do not physically remove clubs from your opponents’ bags, please use the provided club cards to keep track of which clubs are currently blocked in your bag.
The team with the lowest score on each hole may choose to “unblock” one of their clubs in lieu of blocking an opponent’s club.
All “blocked” clubs will remain unusable for the remainder of the match unless an “unblock” is used.
Teams that finish with the same score on a hole result in a “push”, no clubs will be “blocked” or ”unblocked” by either team.
There are no carryover “blocks” or “unblocks” for winning a hole immediately after a “push” or multiple pushed holes.
Players can carry a maximum of 14 clubs in their bags.
Players can only carry 1 driver.
Players can only carry 1 putter.
Players may not utilize their partner’s clubs at any time during the match.
Scorecard Ties:
If a tie exists, we will use the “18 to 1 Hole Method.” Ties will be broken by considering scores from hole 18 back to hole 1 until there is a winner. For instance, if Kathy and Ellen both scored an 81, they will have to break their tie. On hole 18, they both scored 4s. Now, we move to hole 17. Ellen scores a 2 while Kathy scores a 3. Ellen wins the tiebreaker.
2024 Frequently Asked Questions:

We will be using the Greater Giving platform for our silent auction. An email will go out to all participants who have submitted an email address and a post will be made on social media one week prior to the tournament for early-bird bidding and setup.
Do the winners receive anything?
We award our lowest scoring twosome a traveling trophy for the year along with each individual receiving a $250 Scheels gift card. In addition, each winning twosome from each battle will receive medals to commemorate their victory.
What are the rules for a tie breaker?
In the event of a tie, we will use the “Last to First Hole Method.” The Last to First Hole Method goes as follows: Ties will be broken by going from the last hole all the way to the first hole until there is a winner. For instance, if Kathy and Ellen both scored a 81, they will have to break their tie. On hole 18, they both scored 4s. Now, we move to hole 17. Ellen scores a 2 while Kathy scores a 3. Ellen wins the tie breaker.
